Last week, I embarked on a trip to Los Angeles to introduce the launch of Anara Publishing to our sync network. This was the third time that I have visited LA in order to meet with music supervisors and production companies to find opportunities for our artist’s music, however previously this was with our sister company Horus Music. The trip was a great opportunity to catch up with our existing music supervisor contacts as well as meet new contacts. Previously, we have been in Hollywood as part of the UK Sync Mission, and you can read about our most recent trip here, but this time we took the opportunity to spend the week in one to one meetings with music supervisors.
The week was jam-packed with meetings with music teams from film studios, television networks, trailer houses and advertising agencies. This included the likes of Sony Pictures, ABC/Disney, Open Road Entertainment, Team One and CBS as well as a number of independent supervisors working across different medias. In the world of Hollywood, it’s all about the relationships so these meetings have been vital in gaining our sync contacts and getting our artists’ music into the ears of the important decision makers.
Los Angeles Beyond the World of Sync
Whilst in Los Angeles, I also had the opportunity to experience the live music scene by visiting a number of the famous venues including the Bootleg Theatre and Hollywood’s Hotel Café. We saw a plethora of talented artists ranging from the soulful, sassy sound of Caroline Smith, the gritty guitar of Nick Shattuck and sublime vocal harmonies of Luci. LA certainly doesn’t disappoint with its high standard of musicians.
Of course, no trip to Los Angeles would be complete without being a tourist for at least one day! So, I did take a little bit of time to do the Warner Bros. Studio Tour and it was fascinating to walk around real life sets and discover the secrets to making Hollywood blockbusters and my favourite TV shows. I even got to tick one thing off of the bucket list which was to sit on the infamous couch from Friends in Central Perk!
