Luke Elgie is Newcastle based bassist/composer/producer. His musical journey started with alt pop band “Shields”, touring the UK and Europe supporting bands such as Everything Everything, Placebo and Walk the Moon, and playing festivals such as Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds and Melt festival. With an expansive career to date, Luke has also received various sync successes with companies such as BT Sport, Wateraid, Ubisoft, ASOS, FIFA and McDonald’s.
In November 2022, our Director, Deborah Smith, accompanied roster artist Ed Geater to Thailand on a 10-day songwriting camp (Writing Retreat Asia) in association with May Music Ltd and Kaleidoscope Music. This led to meeting Luke, who was also taking part in the camp.
Speaking of the signing, Director of Anara Publishing, Debs, commented:
“After spending the best part of two weeks seeing Luke in action at Writing Retreat Asia, I could see that he’s a hugely talented and hardworking songwriter and an impeccable producer. As well as representing his new Wingbeats project, we’ll also be working on developing him even further as a writer so I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in to arranging more writing sessions and being part of this journey!”
Focusing on 2023, Luke has launched a brand-new creative endeavour called Wingbeats. This takes inspiration from artists such Bad Bad Not Good, Jaga Jazzist and the Cinematic Orchestra to create beat driven dystopian jazz, layered with intricate synth, big bass lines and hypnotic beats.
Discussing his signing to Anara Publishing, Luke said:
“I am so excited to be working with Anara Publishing. Their roster is an eclectic mix full of brilliant and talented artists from all over the world so I know I’m in good company. Not only do they have great track record but I genuinely feel like I can have a conversation with one of the team at the drop of hat, which is really valuable. I’m really looking forward to the new opportunities that this new partnership will bring and hopefully collaborating with some of the many excellent fellow artists on the Anara roster.”
